At Comstock, the protection and enhancement of the health, safety and welfare of any person who may be impacted by our work environment is a fundamental business objective. A product of this commitment is exemplified in our safety performance record which is over 80% better than the national construction industry average. Resultantly, Comstock has continuously received recognition for safety excellence from several prominent associations including WorkSafe Alberta, the Electrical Utility Safety Association and the Hamilton-Halton Construction Association.

Comstock has a comprehensive Health and Safety Program, becoming one of the first construction companies in North America to be OHSAS (ISO) 18001:1999 registered. Together with our ISO 9001:2000 Registered Quality Management Program, Comstock delivers an Integrated Management System that is driven by continuous improvement and designed to fully meet and exceed stakeholder expectations.

Comstock has one of the largest and most technically knowledgable safety departments in Canada which helps to ensure that every project is a success by enhancing both safety and productivity.

Brothers Keeper
Brothers Keeper is a non-denominational program of field level safe behavior leadership. Individual workers on each crew take on a safety leadership role that helps bring hazard assessment, behavior observations and positive intervention down to the crew level.

Working with safety and supervision, one worker from each crew acts as a second set of ?safety focused? eyes to help ensure that all workers on that crew work in a safe manner. The Brothers Keeper will help the crew to complete proper Pre-Task Hazard Assessments by serving as facilitator and mentor. Throughout the day, this individual will help their crew to watch for changing tasks, conditions and environment. They will also assist other crew members in identifying unsafe acts and conditions and then reviewing with them the safest way to accomplish a task.

OHSAS (ISO) 18001:1999 Registration
As part of Comstock's continued dedication to improvement and safety, we are pleased to announce we have received our certification in OHSAS (ISO) 18001:1999 Certification.

By this accomplishment Comstock is the first Electrical Mechanical Contractor to be registered to 18001 in North America and one of the first construction companies of any discipline to be registered to 18001. We are confident that this additional registration will also serve to complement our ISO 9001:2000 program and bring an even greater level of service to our customers.
